Let’s be honest us golfers are a judgement bunch, aren’t we? We’ll judge someone’s ability based on one practice swing, how fast or slow they play, the golf course they are a member at, their handicap and probably most common of all: the golf brand of the equipment they use!
So, at Weekend Tour Pros we thought we’d jump on the bandwagon and describe the golfers we most often see using each of the major equipment brands.
It’s only a bit of fun and in reality we think all of these brands make fantastic golf clubs so don’t take it too seriously!
Let’s dive straight in…
Titleist
You take your golf seriously and are working on getting that handicap down. You see a lot of respected players use Titleist and you wanted in on the action. Only use the bays at the driving range with mirrors so you can work on your drills.
Callaway
You’re super keen and like high quality clubs that look and sound as loud as you are. Just like your clubs you’re a bit of a Mavrik. Definitely spend most of your range sessions bombing driver.
TaylorMade
Want to be like Rory and DJ and definitely think of yourself as the modern golfer. A sucker for a good marketing pitch, you believe equipment makes all the difference. Tell your playing partners that ‘that drive would have gone OB if it wasn’t for Twist Face’.
Ping
You are a traditionalist who likes high quality products and don’t need to shout and scream about it. That’s why you play Ping. Normally the player to fear most.
Mizuno
You pride yourself on quality. But feel the need to justify not picking a fashionable brand by telling everyone that will listen that ‘nothing feels like a Mizuno’ and that they ‘worked alright for Brooks’.
Cobra
You love Rickie Fowler and want to be him. That’s it, that’s why you play Cobra. Trust me I know from experience.
Srixon
You are either Irish, got a beard (maybe both?) or working on removing the pause at the top of your backswing. You are the only person who actually bought the clubs that fitted you best. Probably play the AD333 golf ball too.
PXG
You’ve got LOADS of money, nothing better to spend it on and want everyone to know about it! So you bought PXG clubs. You probably bought the matching cart bag too, ya’know, just to make sure people three holes away know you’re sheeted.
Tell us what you think, are we right? What did we get wrong? Are there any brands missing?
